Building Commissioning Specialist
Experience Qualification
Minimum of one to five
years, full-time experience with commercial (non-residential) HVAC systems. experience
should include one or more of the following: design, construction,
installation, maintenance, testing & balancing and troubleshooting
operational issues.
Education / Knowledge
Minimum of two years HVAC
technology degree from an accredited community college. Must commit to working
toward certification as a Certified Building Commissioning Professional (AABC /
ACG Commissioning Group). Must have a thorough understanding of the fundamental
mechanical engineering principles as they relate to HVAC systems. Specialized
knowledge of one or more of the following areas is encouraged: design (must
have performed HVAC load calculations using the Carrier HAP program, Trane
TRACE or similar software programs); installation methods in accordance with
the SMACNA manuals; testing and balancing procedures in accordance with NEBB
TAB Procedural Standards. Prefer the team member be able to verbalize the
complete commissioning process as defined by ASHRAE Guideline 0-2005 or the
Building Commissioning Association.
Skills and Abilities
Must be proficient in
reading/understanding a variety of HVAC mechanical plans and also have a basic
understanding of a variety of HVAC systems. Skills and abilities should include
two or more of the following: Able to identify and clearly document
design/construction conflicts with other trades; identify and clearly document
mechanical construction deficiencies and derive recommended solutions from past
experiences; TAB verification and carrying out assignments from conception to
completion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs including Outlook,
Word and Excel. Must work within budgets.
Main Duties
Project assignments
including commissioning plan reviews, perform site observations and assist in
the TAB verification process. Must be capable of working on several projects,
and maintaining accurate project logs
Additional Duties
Expand on training and
professional development, introduction to marketing activities including
involvement with professional associations, and active participation in company
initiatives. Work closely with the Project Manager.
Guidance / Responsibility
Ability to work
independently, seeking guidance and direction periodically when required.
