USACE Building 68 Rock Island Arsenal
Rock Island, IL
This project is the future headquarters of the First Army. The renovation of Building 68 at the Rock Island Arsenal will house the 3-star general in charge of the First Army. The United States Army Corp of Engineers – Louisville, KY District is partnering with Russell Construction to ensure the building meets the quality standards of the First Army.
As a sub consultant to Russell Construction, SVE Group is providing the Building Commissioning Services and acting as the LEED Administrator for this renovation project.
The building originally built in 1881 is being updated to provide private offices, 6 new private restrooms, private video teleconference rooms/conference rooms, replacement of windows and exterior doors with units meeting current force protection/anti-terrorism standards, and construction of an emergency backup generator and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The buildings HVAC, sprinklers, alarms, lighting, and electrical systems are being modified to fit the needs of the First Army. Due to the age of the building, Russell is partnering with the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) to ensure the building meets the requirements to stay part of the National Building Historical Register.
The following systems were commissioned as part of our scope of work:
HVAC Piping
Ductwork for Air Handlers
