USACE Joint SATCOM Engineering Center (JSEC) Facility, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD
Part of the center is the new laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD (APG) that is working to help develop, test, and certify satellite communications on the move (SATCOM OTM) terminals. The SATCOM Laboratory is part of the 89,000 square foot joint SATCOM Engineering Center in which Susquehanna Valley Engineering Group performed the commissioning services while working as a sub consultant to Endicott Construction Corp.
This project consists of a primary one story building containing offices, electronics engineering labs, satellite engineering labs, and R & d space. A large paved hardstand area with a secure fence to enclose satellite structures was also included in this project. The building structure is primarily a structural steel frame with concrete slabs on grade. The roof construction is an insulated metal deck on a sloping steel structure. The project also includes a new domestic water supply, fire water services, sanitary and storm water distribution and electrical distribution. This project was designed and constructed to meet USGBC requirements for LEED Silver Certification.
Equipment that was commissioned:
Chilled Water Pump Geothermal Heat Pumps Air Cooled Chiller Air Handling Unit Computer Room Unit Energy Recovery Unit Variable Frequency Drive HVAC Controls Domestic Water Heaters Lighting and Lighting Controls Testing and Balancing (TAB) Plan
