USACE Joint Bio-Medical Administration Building
Fort Detrick, MD
As a sub consultant to eci Construction, SVE Group provided the LEED Building Commissioning Services for this project.
A newly constructed, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-eligible building at Fort Detrick will serve as the headquarters for the Chemical Biological Medical Systems Joint Project Management Office and elements of the Naval Medical Research Center.
This project was driven by BRAC to strategically unite CBMS with the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, USAMRMC laboratories and medical development activities, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Integrated Research Facility.
This project constructed a new Joint Bio-Medical RDA Management Center to serve as the headquarters for the Chemical Biological Medical Systems Joint Project Management Office and elements of the Naval Medical Research Center. Primary construction included the administrative facility, uninterruptable power supply (UPS), fire sprinkler system, loading dock, special foundations and building information systems. Construction included the installation of intrusion detection system, utilities, paving, storm drainage, site improvements, information systems, and antiterrorism protection measures.
The new Center is pursuing its LEED Silver certification for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiencies, materials selection, and indoor environmental air quality.
The following systems were commissioned as part of our scope of work:
Packaged Rooftop Units
Ductless Split System AC Units
Variable Air Volume Boxes with Hot Water Reheat Coils
Exhaust Fans
Gas Fired Boilers
Heating Hot Water Pumps
Variable Frequency Drives
Hot Water Cabinet Unit Heaters
Hot Water Unit Heaters
Refrigerant and Heating Hot Water Piping Systems
Building Management System (BMS) Controls
Domestic Hot Water Heaters
Interior Lighting Controls
