High School of the Future

SVE Group was recently hired to conduct an independent audit of the building shell for Philadelphia School District’s High School of the Future. The School of the Future (SOF) project is a unique partnership between the School District of Philadelphia and Microsoft Corp. to create a sustainable and replicable model for improved instruction and systemic reform through the use of organizational best practices and innovations in curriculum, architecture, environmental and technology design.
The purpose of the survey was to verify that the construction documents were followed at the time of construction and that all exterior features were incorporated into the building’s exterior envelope and HVAC systems. The audit included extensive survey work and documentation of the exterior wall and roof systems for the facility’s owner’s use in achieving Energy Conservation Income Tax Credits. Through the energy certification process, our clients are eligible for significant tax benefits through the 2005 Energy Policy Act, which was recently extended through December 31, 2013.
